UNIVERSITY OF MALAYA ACADEMICS AWARDED THE PINGAT BAKTI SETIA FROM THE PRISON DEPARTMENT OF MALAYSIA

 

On 2 November 2009, in conjunction with Hari Penjara Malaysia 2009, Associate Professor Dr. Norbani Mohamed Nazeri from Faculty of Law and Professor Dr. Adeeba Kamarulzaman from Faculty of Medicine were awarded the Pingat Bakti Setia Penjara Malaysia for their contributions to the Prison Department of Malaysia.

Professor Adeeba and colleagues from the Centre of Excellence for Research in AIDS (CERiA) in collaboration with the Prison Department of Malaysia, work in a project on the prevention and treatment of HIV among prisoners. Meanwhile, Associate Professor Dr. Norbani and her students from the Faculty of Law had contributed in terms of providing courses on law to teenagers at the Kajang Prison through the “Community Outreach Program”.
