The Mata Duitan team from the Faculty of Business & Accountancy will get the opportunity to lock horns with the best business brains in the region when they emerged champions in the CIMB Asean Youth Stock Challenge Grand Finale in Singapore this Saturday.
Comprising of Azidah Ahmad, Siti Noor Zalikha Kamsin, Nor Erlyna Faizza Che Mi and Sulaiha Mohamed, they managed to outwit 2 other teams, Never give up and Team Brilliant from University Tunku Abdul Rahman and Taylor’s University respectively at the national finals held recently.
Mata Duitan, who were given RM80,000 in stocks portfolio managed to reap in a profit of RM7,773.32, for a 9.72% increase incompared to Never give up’s 6.66% from RM100,000 to RM106,664.95 and Team Brilliant’s 5.71% increase from RM80,000 to RM84,567.15.
For their efforts, Mata Duitan managed to walk away with US$10,000 (RM30,000) a Challenge Trophy and Certificate of Achievement, free flight and accomodation to the Lion City where thew will be up against teams from Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.
They are expected to face a strong challenge from Team Diamond (Universitas Indonesia), Trevolution (Nanyang Technological University, Singapore) and RBH (Mahidol University, Thailand) who emerged champions in their respective countries for a chance to claim the top prize of US$10,000 (RM30,000).
